Woodbridge Teen, 14, Charged With Making School Threat
Breaking: A 14-year-old was arrested after police said he posted a picture of a firearm, putting Avenel Middle School on lockdown Friday.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A 14-year-old Woodbridge teen has been arrested after police said he made a threatening post on social media, causing Avenel Middle School to be put into shelter-in-place mode Friday afternoon. The teen is a student at Avenel Middle School and the post included a depiction of a firearm.
Police say the 14-year-old posted the threat on social media and a parent first discovered it Friday. The parent notified Woodbridge police and Avenel Middle School was briefly put into shelter-in-place mode Friday while police investigated. Students and teachers were instructed to stay in their classrooms and shut the doors.
No risk to students or staff was found. The 14-year-old was located by Woodbridge police and detectives from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and arrested. He or she was charged with creating a false public alarm.
