Woodbridge Will Mourn 9/11 In A Different Way This Year

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Editor's note: The public cannot participate in the 9/11 walk; that was published in error. The public can view the walk as they walk down Inman Avenue.

Because it is the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Woodbridge will do something different to mark the solemn memorial:

Members of the Colonia Fire Dept. will have a remembrance walk. This is to honor and remember the nine Woodbridge residents who were killed in the terrorist attacks, and all 2,977 people who were killed the day.

The walk will be led by members of the Colonia Fire Dept. and will include members of other emergency services organizations in Woodbridge (several different fire companies and first aid squads, Woodbridge Police, Woodbridge CERT) and surrounding communities

The walk begins at 9:59 a.m., the moment that the World Trade Center’s south tower collapsed, at Inman and Wood avenues. It will finish at the Colonia Fire Dept., 250 Inman Avenue, where memorial and prayer services will be held. Learn more here: twp.woodbridge.nj.us/m/newsflash/home/detail/1090

The public is welcome to view the walk as it proceeds down Inman Avenue. The public cannot participate in the walk.

They are also welcome to attend the Township-sponsored memorial ceremony at the conclusion of the walk, which will be held in the parking lot of the Colonia Fire Department on Inman Avenue.

James Lynch: Port Authority police officer

Tonyell McDay: Computer technician at Marsh Technologies

Narender Nath: Marsh & McLennan employee
Sankara Velamuri: Employee with the NY Dept. of Taxation & Finance
