YMCA Worker From Woodbridge Charged With Child Sex Assault

A Woodbridge man, who worked as a summer camp counselor and bus monitor, is charged with sexually assaulting two boys, authorities say.

A Woodbridge man, who worked as a summer camp counselor and school bus monitor, has been charged with sexually assaulting two young boys, authorities said.

Alex Farkas, 25, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge was arrested Monday and charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, and two counts each of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Farkas worked as a bus monitor for the Edison branch of the YMCA and as a camp counselor at the Oakcrest Family Swim Club in Edison, according to a news release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan.

According to the news release:

Farkas assaulted a boy on the bus and at the camp on numerous occasions between March and this month.

In a separate case, he had improperly touched another boy on the bus on various occasions dating back to July.

The investigation was launched after one of the boys told a relative about the assaults.

Farkas was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick. Bail has not yet been set.
