14 Dogs Rescued From Franklin Lakes Woman's Home: Prosecutor
Breaking: Danielle Weitz, 65, was charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty for allegedly running a dog kennel out of her home.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — A borough woman was charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty after more than a dozen dogs were rescued from her home Tuesday, authorities announced.
Danielle Weitz, 65, of Haddon Place was arrested after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Animal Cruelty Task Force received information Thursday that a dog kennel was being run at her home, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.
Franklin Lakes police and the task force investigated. On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at the home where they found 14 dogs "in various states of health" and unacceptable living conditions for their well-being, Calo said.

The dogs were taken from the home. Members of the borough's Animal Control Unit and a veterinarian were there to ensure the dogs were safe and assessed them as they were removed, Calo said.
Weitz was charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty, a disorderly persons offense. She is scheduled to appear in county Central Judicial Processing Court July 12.
