State Police Find $2.5K Worth Of Heroin In Bergen Man's Car: Authorities

Luis Delgado-Betancourt, 44, was stopped on the Garden State Parkway Saturday morning, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — State Police found $2,500 worth of heroin in a Bergen county man's car after stopping him on the Garden State Parkway Saturday morning, authorities said.

Luis Delgado-Betancourt, 44, of Hackensack, was stopped for a traffic violation on the southbound Garden State Parkway in Upper Township at about 5:12 a.m., State Police said.

During the stop, troopers determined Delgado-Betancourt was under the influence and arrested him for DWI, police said. After further investigation, troopers discovered that he was in possession of nearly two ounces of heroin, authorities said.

Delgado-Betancourt was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, criminal under the influence and DWI, police said. He was lodged at the Cape May County Jail on a no bail warrant.
