Police were told by the vehicle’s owner that he parked the car, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz, and went to a local restaurant. Upon returning, he discovered his vehicle was missing.

He advised the officers that he had both key fobs to the vehicle in his possession and locked the doors prior to entering the restaurant, police said.

As the officers were taking the report, they were able to access the car’s GPS and discovered it was travelling on Route 24 in Summit, New Jersey. The car was eventually found abandoned at a Department of Transportation yard near Route 24 in Summit by the New Jersey State Police.

It was towed to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification to be processed for evidence.
