6 Injured In Weekend Crashes On Parkway In Bergen: State Police
1 person suffered serious injures after the car they were in caught fire, police said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — One person had to be flown to the hospital after the vehicle they were in caught fire in a crash on the Garden State Parkway Sunday night.
The crash was one of two to delay traffic on the parkway Sunday.
Omana George, 55, of Philadelphia, was a passenger in a BMW that crashed at mile marker 170.6 in Montvale on the northbound parkway that was reported at about 6 p.m., said State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez.

George suffered serious injuries and had to be flown via Medivac helicopter to Hackensack University Medical Center, Goez said.
The BMW went off the road to the left of the parkway, struck several trees, and re-entered the parkway and caught fire, Goez said.

The other three people in the BMW were taken to area hospitals with moderate injuries. Goez did not have updates on their conditions Monday morning.
The left and center lanes of the northbound side of the parkway where the accident occurred were closed for two hours while authorities investigated.
In related news, two people were injured in a six-vehicle pile up in Woodcliff Lake that occurred at about 3:28 p.m., Goez said.
The pile up occurred at mile post 169.9. Two people sustained injuries that were not life threatening and the scene was cleared in about an hour. The crash closed the left and center lanes, Goez said.
