WYCKOFF, NJ — If you think it's too late to start a new career, consider the case of Lya Pfeifer of Saddle Brook.
Pfeifer, a lawyer who received an award from the Federal Republic of Germany, died on Sunday at 82.
She had worked in her family business in Queens, according to her obituary, but in her 40s "revisited a long-standing career aspiration to become a lawyer." She practiced for more than 30 years. She also ran a foundation to strengthen German-American cultural and language exchange, and taught German.
Services for Pfeifer will be held in Wyckoff on Thursday and Friday. Read more in her obituary.
