Wyckoff Man Who Had Street Named After Him Dies At 93

WYCKOFF, NJ — A North Jersey businessman who was so respected, a street was named after him, has died.

Frank Malatesta, 93, of Wyckoff passed away on June 11.

According to his obituary, Malatesta started Frank Malatesta Moving and Storage and then Horseless Carriage Carriers in Paterson, where he spent his youth. The latter company was chosen by automakers to ship Ferraris, Rolls Royces, and other high-end vehicles around the country. He became known for his meticulously dressed drivers and his saying that there were four ways to do something, "The right way, the wrong way, his way or the highway," his obituarysays. He worked until he sold the business three years ago, the obit says.

Malatesta's grandson Zack, a New Jersey-based author, shared touching memories of him in a social media post last week.

"I saw the way he’d make people laugh and the way they respected, admired, and loved him," he wrote.

Although Malatesta lived in Wyckoff, Horseless Carriage was located on Iowa Avenue in Paterson — a portion of which was renamed Frank Malatesta Way in 2022.
