Authorities say the man surrendered on Sept. 18 and is being held in the county jail pending a court appearance, while emphasizing that all charges remain accusations and he is presumed innocent.
• For artist Katerina Spilio, iconography should foster contemplation (orthodoxobserver.org) — An accomplished iconographer whose work appears at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wyckoff explains how traditional Byzantine icons are meant to calm the spirit and invite contemplation rather than dazzle with realism. Her career spans church commissions, historic restorations, and even TV and film sets, but she says her goal in Wyckoff and beyond is the same: to create balanced, peaceful images that help people pray and feel at ease.
• 4 Kids Found Inside Ramapo HS With Toy Rifle After Stealing School Vehicle: Police (dailyvoice.com) — Overnight police activity at Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes drew officers from several nearby departments, including Wyckoff, after security spotted people inside and one appeared armed. Four juveniles were found with a realistic‑looking toy rifle, and investigators say they had broken into the school, stolen a school vehicle, and even entered another high school before being released to their parents as charges are prepared.
