Banner Blasting Congressman Garrett's Anti-Gay Stance to Fly Over Jersey Shore This Weekend
The banner will direct people to a PAC's anti-Scott Garrett website.

A banner blasting Rep. Scott Garrett's alleged anti-gay stance will be flown over the Jersey Shore this weekend.
The Democratic House Majority PAC will have a plane with the banner fly over beaches from Belmar to Sandy Hook Sunday and Monday. The banner will reportedly read "Scott Garrett: Anti-Gay Bigotry Won't Fly" and encourage people to visit its website.
It is the latest blowback for the seven-term Fifth District congressman since Politico reported Garrett told fellow Republicans that he would not pay his dues to the National Republican Congressional Committee because it supports gay candidates.

“From land, sea, and sky, House Majority PAC is making sure as many voters as possible learn the facts about Congressman Garrett’s hateful agenda,” House Majority PAC Communications Director Jeb Fain said in a press release. “Scott Garrett’s bigoted views have no place in Congress, and they won’t fly with North Jersey voters this November.”
Garrett has stopped receiving financial support from corporations, including First Energy, which owns Jersey Central Power and Light. His opponent, Josh Gottheimer, has received endorsements from the National Association of Realtors, New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association and the union representing more than 5,000 firefighters, emergency medical technicians and dispatchers in New Jersey.

Gottheimer is a former speechwriter for President Bill Clinton and Microsoft executive. He lives in Wyckoff and bills himself as socially progressive and fiscally conservative.
The House Majority PAC has been running a TV ad against Garrett since mid-June.
The PAC also has three billboards along Route 17 that similarly highlight its message and direct voters to the website. The billboards are in Mahwah and Carlstadt.
