Bergen County Dad's Fatal Diagnosis Spurs Daughter To Move Up Wedding Date: Obituary
A Bergen County dad was diagnosed with a rare disorder. His daughter moved up her wedding date so he could walk her down the aisle.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Teddy Podest, who raised his family in Washington Township, was a hard-working man on Wall Street and in government — until he saw a doctor over the summer for recent balance and cognitive issues, his obituary says.
In August, Podest was admitted to the hospital, and a spinal tap determined he had Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rapidly progressing brain condition, according to his obituary.
Podest's eldest daughter and her fiancé moved up their wedding date to Sept. 4 so he could walk her down the aisle. He passed away on Sept. 23 at age 62. Read more about Podest in his obituary here.
