Bergen County Man, 92, Dies In Crash On Route 80

A 92-year-old man from Bergen County died in a crash on Route 80 on Tuesday.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 92-year-old man died in a crash early Tuesday after going off the road and hitting a concrete barrier while traveling the wrong way on Interstate 80 in Passaic County, said state police.

Officials said Henry F. Sohl of Oradell was driving a Ford passenger vehicle westbound, in the eastbound lanes of I-80 at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday.

He "was operating a Ford passenger vehicle westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-80," the state police said. "In the area of milepost 53, the Ford entered the left shoulder, impacted a metal electrical box and concrete barrier. As a result of the crash Sohl sustained fatal injuries."

Milepost 53 is located in Wayne.

The Bergen County man sustained fatal injuries, said Trooper II Charles Marchan.

"The crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information available at the moment," state police said.
