Bergen County Man Charged For Making Social Media Threats: Prosecutors
An Oakland man was charged with threats after making a series of social media posts about law enforcement, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bergen County man has been charged with terroristic threats after police investigated "an emerging pattern of social media posts threatening to shoot law enforcement officers" last month, prosecutors said.
Todd V. Gentile, 55, of Truman Blvd. in Oakland, was charged Thursday with third-degree terroristic threats, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.
He was already in the Bergen County prison on another charge, prosecutors said.

"On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit initiated an investigation regarding an emerging pattern of social media posts threatening to shoot law enforcement officers," prosecutors said. "In the subsequent weeks, detectives
traced the social media posts to Todd Gentile."
Several posts made under his name on Facebook last month refer to practicing with weapons, with photos of local law enforcement officers accompanied by comments directed at them.

Gentile awaits a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. Prosecutor Mark Musella thanked the Oakland Police Department for its assistance with the investigation.
