Bergen Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child: Prosecutor

A Palisades Park man is accused of sexually assaulting a child at his home, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced Thursday.
The Palisades Park Police Department received a report that a child was sexually assaulted at a Palisades Park residence Sunday, Grewal said.
The prosecutor's office Special Victims Unit was notified and a joint investigation with the Palisades Park Police Department was conducted, the prosecutor said.

Authorities investigated and interviewed Ramon J. Contreras, 54; he was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Grewal said.
Superior Court Judge Mark T. Janeczko set bail at $100,000 with no 10 percent option. As conditions of bail, Contreras must have no contact with the alleged victim and must surrender his passport.

Janeczko was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail and appeared in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court Wednesday where bail was continued, the prosecutor said.
