Bergen Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Female Acquaintance: Prosecutor

A Bergen County man was charged with sexually assaulting a female acquaintance Tuesday, said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.
Fort Lee police received a 911 call from a woman who reported being sexually assaulted, Grewal said. Police found the woman and Lenin Escobar; the woman told police Escobar sexually assaulted her, Grewal said.
The alleged victim and Escobar was arrested and a joint investigation by the prosecutor’s office Special Victims Unit and the police began, Grewal said.

As a result of the investigation, Escobar was charged with charged with two counts of sexual assault. Municipal Judge Gary N. Wilcox set Escobar’s bail at $200,000 with no 10 percent option. Escobar, a Fort Lee resident, was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
If released on bail. Escobar must have no contact with the victim and must surrender his passport, Grewal said.
