Bergen Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Attacked Woman With A Knife: Prosecutor

A Bergen County man was charged with attempted murder after police found a woman unconscious inside an East Rutherford apartment building Saturday, said Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Francis Tattoli, 24, of East Rutherford, was arrested after authorities investigated information from the municipal police department that Monet Thomas, 25, was attacked inside an apartment complex Tattoli also lives in, Grewal said.

Thomas was found unresponsive just inside the doorway of Tattoli's first-floor apartment, Grewal said. She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where she remains in critical condition, the prosecutor said.

An investigation revealed that Thomas visited an acquaintance in a different apartment in the Summer Street complex; shortly after 9 p.m., she left the residence and returned a short time later, which is when Tattloi attacked her, Grewal said.

Tattoli fled his apartment, but East Rutherford police officers apprehended him near the home, Grewal said.
