Bergen Man Sentenced To 13 Years In Heroin OD Deaths

Angel Hernandez, 39, supplied heroin that led to the overdose deaths of 2 North Jersey men, authorities said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A county man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for supplying heroin that led to the overdose deaths of two North Jersey men.

Passaic County Superior Court Judge Justine Niccollai sentenced Angel Hernandez, 39, of Elmwood Park, to 13 years in state prison, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced Friday.

Hernandez was responsible for supplying heroin that led to the overdose deaths of Eric Somesla, 24, and Daniel Renois, 23, in March and July of 2015, respectively, Valdes announced.

Hernandez must serve slightly more than 11 years of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.
