Bergen and Passaic County Cycle Their Way to a Healthier Heart
The annual Bergen-Passaic Heart Walk features new "cycling station" among heart healthy activities

The annual Bergen-Passaic Heart Walk is back in Franklin Lakes for another day filled with heart healthy fun on Sunday, October 6th! This year’s walk will feature a cycling station, not only to compete with your friends and coworkers, but also to peddle your way to a healthier heart. Each bike will include a team of three riders, switching every 15 minutes, to keep everyone active and encourage all to continue the fight against heart disease and stroke.
“Physical activity benefits your mind, body and soul! Cycling has been linked to better heart and brain health and with 80% of stroke and heart disease being preventable, what better time than now to join the ride!”, said Regan DeBenedetto, Chair of the 2019 Bergen Passaic Heart Walk.
The Heart Walk is part of the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement to encourage sustainable healthy lifestyle changes. Prior to the walk, participants can enjoy healthy snacks, CPR demonstrations, health screenings, a doggy contest, and much more! We will also hear from our special heart ambassador, Rachel Johnson, as she inspires us all with her journey.

“Research has also shown that walking can have a significant impact on your health by lowering your chances of heart disease. I am thrilled to be able to lead our community on a walk to support all those affected by heart disease and stroke and take steps towards a healthier future.”, said Rachel, Heart Ambassador at the 2019 Bergen Passaic Heart Walk.
The Bergen Passaic Heart Walk is locally sponsored by Doherty Enterprises, Hackensack Meridan Health, KPMG, Cigna, NVE Bank, Visions Federal Credit Union and media sponsor, NJBiz.
