Jersey City BMW Driver Charged In Fort Lee Hit-And-Run That Injured 2: Prosecutor
A BMW driver from Jersey City has been charged in a hit-and-run in Fort Lee last Saturday that injured pedestrians at a bus stop.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 28-year-old Jersey City man has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which two pedestrians were injured in a bus stop in Fort Lee last Saturday.
Oliver Garcia has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, hindering apprehension, and tampering with physical evidence, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.
Prosecutors said that on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at approximately 6:58 p.m., the Fort Lee Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a hit-and-run crash on Lemoine Avenue, in which two pedestrians were struck.

An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Fort Lee Police Department determined that a 2007 BMW 550i operated by Garcia was involved in a "collision with another vehicle that subsequently led to that vehicle striking the victims as they waited at a bus stop," prosecutors said.
They say that Garcia fled before police arrived, but the other vehicle stayed.
Garcia was arrested on Thursday.
He was also served with multiple motor vehicle summonses, then released on a summons pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
