Boulder Run Discounts on Black Friday

Shopping center will feature holiday giveaways, DJ

On Black Friday, a DJ will be busy spinning records by Starbucks at the Boulder Run Shopping Center on Franklin Avenue. Santa Claus also will make an appearance, and there will be free holiday treats: hot chocolate, donuts and candy canes.

In addition to the holiday spirit, businesses in Boulder Run are offering discounts and coupons, said Matt Brogowski, president of the Chamber of Commerce.

Major renovations have been ongoing at the center, although the project is starting to take hold. Ron Kistner, the shopping center's property manager, is throwing the event to get the word out, and as “sort of a launch,” Brogowski said.

“They’ve just about reached the conclusion,” he said. “They are really highlighting the (construction) that’s going on here.”

Additions include the Stop & Shop, an expanded parking lot that was being repaved this week, and a new mixed-use building with retail on the bottom level and affordable housing on the top. There also has been new lighting installed and some tree plantings.

Another holiday-themed event will be thrown by the Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 4. Santa Claus will be riding around on a fire truck, visiting shopping centers. Cedar Hill Plaza, the Wyckoff Shopping Center, Mayflower Shopping Center and Boulder Run are among the scheduled stops.

At the end of the fire truck run, residents will be gathering at Memorial Town Hall for the annual tree lighting ceremony.
