"Real Housewives" Salon Expands to Swank New Franklin Lakes Location

Victor Castro isn't just any salon owner — he's the man responsible for the all-important look on one of television's most popular TV shows.

Before the "Real Housewives of New Jersey," with its glimmering brand of Garden State glamor, had broadcast a single episode, Castro invited some of his  clients to meet with the series' creators.

Since then, the Franklin Lakes-based salon has been featured on the show several times and business has been booming, according to Castro.

The shop recently moved to a new location at 799 Franklin Ave., expanding into space that adds a flower bar, gifts from Coco and Bailey, clothes from Maluka and a bar stocked with cappuccinos and other drinks.

"We give our clients what they want, expect and deserve," Castro said. "And that's from the second they walk in the door."

Still, Chateau also continues offering their full range of hair, nail and makeup services, all backed up with its owner's 23 years of experience and his team of five stylists and two manicure technicians. They all work to keep up with the latest styles and techniques, Castro said.

"It's not just the trends, it's also knowing what's in style," Castro said.

As a part of the move and expansion, Castro is also launching his own line of hair products, called Chateau Mediterranean.

The products are ready to go, but he is still ironing out some of the details, including a possible partnership with "real housewife" Jacqueline Laurita, Castro said.

The new line could launch as soon as the end of March, Castro said.
