Club Hub – Country Fair, Bike Ride, Park Playdate & More!

What's happening this week at Wyckoff clubs.

Welcome to "Club Hub," a weekly column featuring news and events from the clubs around town. Here's a look at what's going on with some of the organizations in Wyckoff.

Get your carnival groove on this Saturday at the 46th Annual Country Fair at Wyckoff Municipal Field. The Wyckoff tradition kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m., featuring delicious food, cool rides, amazing vendors, music entertainment, crafts and more fun-filled family activities. All proceeds go to benefit the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, which serves individuals with developmental disabilities. Pull out your bicycles and sneakers anad take part in an international day of climate action with the Wyckoff Family YMCA on Saturday, September 24. The event "Moving Bergen" kicks off with a 5-mile bike ride at 10 a.m. and ends in a sustainability fair at the Y from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, click here or e-mail Matt Smith at msmith153@hotmail.com.

Take advantage of the remaining warm weather and enjoy a playdate in the park with the Wyckoff Newcomers and Neighbors club on Friday, September 23. The group plans to meet at 3:30 p.m. at the Wyckoff Town Park next to Memorial Field. Snacks and drinks will be provided for the kids. Talk about your gardening experience over the last planting season at a meeting of the Garden Club on Wednesday, September 21. Members will have a chance to talk about their gardening failures and successes and hear others’ stories. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lake House (691 Wyckoff Ave.). Take in a Broadway show with the Wyckoff YMCA on Thursday, September 22. The Y has orchestra seats for Broadway’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Coach transportation will be available from the Y. Tickets are $120 for members and $130 for nonmembers. It’s that time of year again! The Wyckoff Library kicks off its weekly storytime session for children ages 4 and 5 on Thursday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. There’s also an afternoon storytime at 1:30 p.m. Children are allowed to attend without their parents. Visit the library’s website or call (201) 891-4866 for more information. The library will also host a weekly storytime session for toddlers beginning on Friday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 30 months to 3 years must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Support your local boy scouts and bring your car to get washed at the Grace United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 24 between noon and 4:30 p.m. Boy Scout Troop 89, which is sponsored by the church, will be washing cars as well as dogs to raise money for programs. Tickets are available from Scoutmaster Colin Bell or donations are welcome on the day of the event. Call (201) 847-9507 to learn more.  

One person’s trash is another’s treasure so pull out your wallet and head to one of two garage sales in Wyckoff this weekend. The Wyckoff Area Garden Club is holding a plant and garage sale on Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 328 Franklin Ave. (opposite Boulder Run Shopping Center). Bulbs, plans and used garden items will be among the items available for purchase. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, click here or call (973) 388-7471. Another garage sale will be held at 308 Sicomac Ave. on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Men’s clothing, along with furniture, a music stand, artwork and some outdoor trimmings will be for sale. The Rotary Club of Wyckoff and Midland Park invites all members and residents to its weekly breakfast meeting on Thursday, September 22 at 7:30 a.m. All meetings are held at the Brick House (179 Godwin Ave.) in Wyckoff. Improve your leadership and public speaking skills with the Park Toastmasters Club on Friday, September 23 at 7:15 p.m. in the Community Room at Panera Bread in Ramsey (1300 State Rt 17). The community-based club is open to all adult members and has served northern New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley for nearly 50 years. The group welcomes all members and guests who wish to improve their speech, communication and leadership skills.
