Community To Celebrate Beads 'n Me Program Next Week
The entrepreneurial program is run by students with special needs. A special red carpet event will be held in the program's honor.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — The school district's Beads 'n Me program will be honored at a special red carpet event next week.
The program at Franklin Avenue Middle School is run by special needs students in Marcy Pryor's class. They create and sell lanyards. Students are involved in all aspects of the operation, from everything from sorting and checking inventory, and run it like a business, using a cash register.
"What better way is there to teach about money than using a cash register?" Pryor said. "What better way is there to learn about measurements than using different sized beads? This is given them a way to meet other kids and it has given them an identity."
