Cop Impersonators Arrested After Wyckoff Robbery

WYCKOFF, NJ — Two men were charged with robbery and impersonating a police officer after they followed a man after he left a casino one September morning, police announced.

Kevin J. Urena, 26, of Bronx, New York, and Howard V. Ayllon, 20, of Elizabeth, were arrested after local authorities investigated a robbery on Route 208 Sept. 2, said Lt. Joseph Soto.

Wyckoff police received a report Sept. 2 from a motorist who was robbed earlier that morning.

The man left a casino in New York at 5:30 a.m. and was driving home when another vehicle struck his from behind, Soto said.

When the man got out of the vehicle he was approached by two men who held him down and stole money and an iPhone from his pocket, Soto said. One of the men said he was a law enforcement officer, he said.

Wyckoff detectives investigated and learned that Urena and Ayllon allegedly followed the man while he was at the casino and driving home.

Authorities investigated, found Urena and Ayllon and arrested them Monday morning. They were also charged with theft. They are being lodged in New York City and are awaiting extradition to New Jersey, Soto said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, New York City Police Department, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency assisted Wyckoff detectives with their investigation.
