Corrected Voting Info for Residents Displaced by Hurricane Sandy

An email sent to Wyckoff residents contained a number of factual and contact errors. Here is the corrected and clarified procedure to have your vote counted.

A Wyckoff resident reported at a township meeting Monday night that some of the information sent to Wyckoff officials by the county was incorrect, linking residents to non-existent pages.

A copy of the "Application for Vote by Mail Ballot" is attached to this story for your convenience as well.

(Please note: The application specifies not to email or fax unless you're a military or overseas voter. While this is normally correct, the executive order signed by Gov. Chris Christie allows for displaced voters to email or fax this form in this year's election.)

E-Mail and Fax Voting to New Jersey Residents Displaced by Hurricane Sandy

Find out what's happening in Wyckofffor free with the latest updates from Patch.

The New Jersey Department of State issued a directive to county elections officials to permit New Jersey registered voters displaced by Hurricane Sandy to vote electronically.  This directive also is intended to assist displaced first responders, whose tireless recovery efforts away from home has made voting a challenge.

To vote electronically, displaced voters may submit a mail-in ballot application either by e-mail or fax to their county clerk.

To obtain a Vote by Mail Ballot application for Displaced Voters, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to: http://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/voting-information-vote-by-mail.html
  2. Under "Vote By Mail Ballot Applications By County" you will find "Bergen." Select the language in which you'd like to download and print the form.
  3. Print out the application, complete it, and fax it to 201-336-7002 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or e-mail it to kcoupe@co.bergen.nj.us

Once an application is APPROVED, the clerk will electronically SEND A BALLOT TO THE VOTER by either fax or e-mail in accordance to the voter's preference. Voters must return their electronic ballot - by fax or e-mail - no later than November 6, 2012, at 8 p.m.
