Decrease In Drug, Alcohol Cases At Ramapo-Indian Hills Last Year

There were 7 drug- and alcohol-related cases reported in the Ramapo-Indians Hills Regional High School district last year.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — The number of substance abuse cases reported during the 2016-17 academic year dropped a lot from the previous year, data released by the state shows.

The seven reported cases were five fewer than the 12 cases reported during the 2016-15 school year.

New Jersey releases a list of substance abuse cases reported by each school district every year, and the state Department of Education released its most recent data this past month.

Englewood ranked first in Bergen County with 19 cases. Cresskill, Fair Lawn, Fairview, Palisades Park and others each had just one reported case.

The state Department of Education has cautioned that these numbers are reported by each district, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting its results fairly and accurately. But they are required by law to report them.
