Delays at Franklin & Main Next Tuesday; Main Street May Receive Facelift
Traffic will be restricted to one lane next Tuesday on Franklin Avenue; township applies for grant to repave Main Street.
Expect significant traffic delays at the intersection of Franklin and Main next Tuesday. Police Chief Benjamin Fox said an underground stormwater pipe had broken underneath the railroad tracks and will require repair, causing delays throughout the day.
Because it's a county road, Bergen County will be sending a contractor to replace the pipe. Franklin will stay open, but will be restricted to one lane, with police directing traffic. The work is expected to be completed the same day, weather permitting, by 7 p.m.
Long term, once the pipe is repaired, the railroad company will be putting down a new track bed on the train tracks. The whole level of the roadway will be changed, Chief Fox said, and work is expected to begin on that project in October.

Main Street Grant Application
On Tuesday's township committee meeting, with the passing of resolution #10-169, Wyckoff will be formally submitting a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for repairs done to Main Street. The road will be repaved, though it's unclear when the the paving would happen, if the grant were funded.

Main Street, according to the municipality, qualifies for the grant program "because it expereinces heavy and consistent traffic and because it connects to Franklin Avenue (Bergen County Route 502) and connects to Wyckoff Avenue (Bergen County Route 87)..."
There are drainage issues by Main and Everett, previous excavation trenches are sinking, the roads are cracking, and the parking stills are in need of repair as well.
