Bergen's Devin McCourty Named NFL Pro Bowl Starter

McCourty, a Montvale native and Saint Joseph Regional High School alumnus, is a cornerback for the New England Patriots.

Former Rutgers standout and Montvale native Devin McCourty was named to the 2017 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced this week.

McCourty is a free safety for the New England Patriots. He grew up in Montvale and is an alumnus of Saint Joseph Regional High School where he was an all-league selection his junior and senior seasons.

The Patriots selected McCourty in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

McCourty credited his teammates with helping him be named a pro-bowler.

"I think my teammates and us just playing at a high level has helped me get nominated, but I think any of our guys in the back end could've got nominated," McCourty told the Providence Dispatch. I think it's still an honor to be voted."
