Drunk Man Drove Onto Wyckoff Lawn, Almost Hit House: Police

David Englishman, 74, drove over lights and over a homeowner's walkway, police said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A Bergen County man allegedly drove drunk onto a township woman's property and nearly hit her house, police said.

David Englishman, 74, of Midland Park was charged with DWI, reckless driving, and failure to possess an insurance card, said Lt. Joseph Soto.

A resident called police at 9:50 p.m. April 21 after a man drove a pickup up her driveway and almost hit her house, Soto said. The driver knocked over lights and drove onto the woman's walkway; the driver eventually parked the pickup in the woman's neighbor's driveway, he said.

Police smelled alcohol on the man's breath and showed that he was impaired, Soto said.

Police investigated and arrested Englishman. They took him to police headquarters where he was released to a family member pending a court date, Soto said. His vehicle was impounded.
