Drunk Woman Caught Driving In Sicomac School Parking Lot: Police

Jacquelin M. Tiffinger, 62, put the car into gear, and attempted to drive away, but police stopped her, the chief said.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — A woman was charged with driving drunk after police caught her trying to leave the Sicomac Elementary School Friday afternoon, police said.

Officer William Christopher was sent to the school shortly after 5 p.m. to check on the welfare of a driver in the parking lot, said Chief David Murphy.

Christopher put his vehicle behind the driver's vehicle; the driver started the engine, put the vehicle into gear, and started backing up, but Christopher stopped the driver, Murphy said.

A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Jacquelin M. Tiffinger, 62, of Oakland, police said. Tiffinger was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, and reckless driving, Murphy said.

Tiffinger was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in Wyckoff Municipal Court, police said.
