PARAMUS, NJ — The midterm primary elections are today, and voters across Bergen County headed out to the polls.
Here's a look at significant races on the ballot in Paramus and around the county.

Local races
There are big decisions to be made in Paramus, but they'll happen in November.

Current Mayor Richard LaBarberia is not seeking re-election, as the New Jersey Globe reported in March. Democrat MariaElena Bellinger and Republican Christopher DiPiazza, both current council members, filed for candidacy.
Democrats John Tabor and Mark J. Distler are running for Township Council against incumbent Republicans Jeanne T. Weber and Jorge E. Quintana.
All six candidates will appear on the ballot, but since they are the only registered choices the race is uncontested.
Other races
Countywide, Republican candidates are looking to gain ground at the county level, in the executive's office and on the Board of County Commissioners, where Democrats hold sway.
Todd Calguire of Midland Park and Linda T. Barba of Fort Lee are vying for the ballot place opposite County Executive James Tedesco III, a Democrat.
Six Republicans have filed to run against three incumbent Democrats on the Board of County Commissioners .
At the federal level, five Republicans have filed to run for Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5)'s seat in the fall.
Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (NJ-9) will face Republican Billy Prempeh, who has no opponents in his primary.
