On November 6th The Bergen County Historical Society is proud to present “A Nation at War”. This is to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War and honor the fallen of all wars. At 1 P.M the site will open with demonstrations by the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers, a Civil War re-enactment troop.
At 3 P.M. the ceremony for the fallen will take place. The troops will form ranks. The Gettysburg Address will be given. Followed by the prayers for the fallen delivered by Rev. David Moreno. A salute will be fired followed by taps.
The lectures will start at 3:30 P.M. The first will be given by Bill Gent. His topic is “Medicine in the Civil War. He will present this talk with period medical tools. Followed by Joseph LeMay with “The Home Front-Waldwick and Ridgewood in WWII”. Concluding with “A Time with Abe Lincoln” presented by Bob Costello. Colonial cooking will be demonstrated in the Out kitchen during this event. Civil War era materials will be available in the gift shop. This event is of interest to teachers, students and those who are interested in this part of American history. This event will take place at Historic New Bridge Landing 1201 Main Street River Edge N.J.
