Dr. Paul Yellin, founder and director of The Yellin Center for Mind, Brain, and Education in Manhattan, will be at Barnstable Academy at 8 Wright Way in Oakland on Thursday, May 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to present “Every Child Can Learn: New Pathways to Success.” The program is free and open to all area families whose children are struggling with school as well as issues of self-esteem due to learning disabilities. Seats are limited; to make a reservation visit Barnstable Academy's website http://www.barnstableacademy.com/BookingRetrieve.aspx?ID=132804.
An expert in multi-disciplinary learning assessments and personalized learning plans, Yellin will share valuable insights into emerging trends in neuroscience and how differences in brain physiology affect learning. He will also discuss resiliency, adversity and self-esteem, and ways that educators may solve students’ learning problems across academic areas of study. By demystifying learning disabilities and issues surrounding them, parents and teachers can understand more clearly how students may learn best.
