THE FRANKLIN LAKES MEMORIAL POND: “REMEMBER…REFLECT…NEVER FORGET…” 10 Year Commemoration Ceremony
The Borough of Franklin Lakes would like to extend an invitation to attend the 10th Anniversary 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony. It is scheduled to be held Saturday, September 10th, 2011 (rain date, Saturday, September 17th if necessary) at 4 PM and will be held behind Borough Hall off of DeKorte Drive on the Municipal Field. All residents are invited to attend this FREE event and are asked to gather at the gazebo and fall in line for the procession down to The Franklin Lakes Memorial Pond where the ceremony will take place.
Members of The Franklin Lakes Fire Department, Police Department and Ambulance Corps along with the VFW Post 5702 and the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts will be on hand to stand as Color Guard for the remembrance.
The ceremony will be an interdenominational ceremony to remember loss, courage and resilience. The 200-lb World Trade Center artifact that The Franklin Lakes Memorial Pond Committee acquired will be unveiled as well as the final phase of the pond which encompasses a 25 foot wide flowing waterfall which was designed by Blue Meadow to aerate the water.

In addition to the unveiling, the September 10th remembrance ceremony will honor the extraordinary heroism, commitment and sacrifice of all those lost to terrorism as well as the rescue workers, our military and their families. Special guests from local churches, synagogues as well as some family members will recite readings, poems and will sing. There will be a special performance from JT Taylor, Artist/Songwriter formerly of Kool & The Gang. All are welcome. Please come out and show your patriotism on this day of remembrance.
