Fiscal Conservatives They Ain’t
As a Republican, I just received another expensive mailing from Tom Madigan and Tim Shanley. This is one of multiple mailings I have received, and I understand from other Wyckoff friends they have received them also, although not being on the Republican mailing list. I’m just wondering how all of these mailings have been funded? Are Tom and Tim paying for them out of their own pocket? Are some Republicans in Wyckoff funding the mailings? Are they funded by the out - of – town Bergen County Republican committee? Or possibly is there some dark money PAC out there contributing? Just curious. I do know for a fact these mailings cost thousands of dollars each time they wish to respond to some pragmatic criticism made by their very reasonable opponent Carla Pappalardo. So it seems Tom and Tim really do not fall into the category of being fiscally conservative, as they indicate in their expensive mailings.
I do find it interesting in their mailings, there is no comment about the Republican tax giveaway and that they are not fighting to have the SALT provision reversed. As you well know our mayor Brian Scanlan, formally a Republican and now a Democrat, has been our Wyckoff spearhead trying to get Washington to reverse this Republican travesty. Brian has coordinated with Josh Gottheimer on this issue. Clearly they are not fiscally conservative enough for Wyckoff.

BTW: Josh is the one who got the Post Box reinstated at the Wyckoff post office. not Tom and Tim.
Also, a Wyckoff resident in a recent PATCH post indicated the terrible imbalance of volunteers who have to be a Republican in order to land at position to apply their skills and talents for the township. In my efforts for the Fair Vote for Mayor petition drive last year, I had 15 year resident of Wyckoff, a successful businessman, tell me he had sent his resume in for any open volunteer position on any town board. He was / is not a Republican. He did not get a response, not even a “thanks but no thanks.” Let’s open the aperture here in Wyckoff and let all folks who are interested in volunteering, regardless of political party, get a fair chance to serve our town.

With regards to Tom’s and Tim’s statements in their very expensive mailings, that if Carla Pappalardo is elected, there will be a tone of “getting even by the Democrats” on the Wyckoff Township Committee. This could be further from the truth. Fortunately, our newest town committee person --- Melissa Rubenstein --- had the good sense to call out Tom Madigan with regards to his grandstanding and blatherings on the sanctuary city issue. Thank you Melissa.
Maybe Tom and Tim are fiscally conservative. Then again, maybe they are not. I have had many, many good people tell they are. Also, have had many great minds on economics tell me they are not. Maybe we will find out some time. We will see. We will see. But I do know the color green ( for money) is a beautiful thing, a very beautiful thing.
I have already voted for Carla Pappalardo and urge you to do the same.
