When was the game invented? Historians debate the origin--some say the sport evolved from games played in Rome and China, but the modern day game we are familiar with came from Scotland. In fact, Scots were so obsessed with the game that their king banned it in 1457 because it was distracting citizens from preparing for war with England.

What are my chances of making two holes in one during the same round of golf? About one in 67 million.

What were the first golf balls made of?Sports historians say they were made of leather and were stuffed with feathers. Feathers were used inside of golf balls until the mid-1800s. Today's golf balls are made of rubber.

Why are there weird little marks on golf balls? Those indentations are known as dimples and they actually make the ball fly farther.

Where is the oldest golf course still in use? Most people agree it's the "Olde Course" at St. Andrews in Scotland. It was established back in 1552.
