Former Bergen Priest Due In Court Wednesday On Child Porn Charges

The former priest of a Bergen County church is due in a Pennsylvania court Wednesday on 40 child pornagraphy-realted charges.

Kevin A. Gugliotta, 54, was charged last month with 20 counts of possession of or viewing child pornography and 20 counts of dissemination of child pornography. He is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Central Court at 9 a.m.

Gugliotta's LinkedIn page indicated he had worked at Immaculate Conception RC Church in Mahwah for 16 months until August. He also had been a minister at Holy Spirit RC Church in Union, authorities said.

Gugliotta has not been arraigned yet, officials from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said. He remains incarcerated in the Wayne County Prison on $1 million bail with no 10 percent option, court records show.

Gugliotta was charged after detectives in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, investigated a report of child pornography being uploaded to an internet chat room from an IP address that was registered to Gugliotta at his, authorities said. Gugliotta's "activities" allegedly occurred at his vacation home on his personal laptop, the Archdiocese of Newark said in a statement after Gugliotta was first charged.

"There are no allegations that he may have engaged in similar activities in New Jersey," James Goodness, the Archdiocese's vice chancellor and director of communications, previously said in a statement.

Gugliotta is also a high-stakes poker player. According to the poker database The Hendon Mob, Gugliotta has won nearly $200,000.
