Franklin Lakes Schools Organizing Candidates' Night
The Board of Education and Parent Teacher Associations event is Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

With Election Day fast approaching, the Franklin Lakes School District's PTA presidents have announced a Candidates’ Night scheduled for next week.
All seven candidates running for the Board of Education in Franklin Lakes have been invited to participate in the event, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

"During the course of the evening, each candidate will participate in a 15-20 minute individual interview, and be given the opportunity to make a brief personal statement," according to a recent letter from the presidents of the borough PTAs.
The interviews will be streamed live into a number of classrooms on the first floor at Franklin Avenue Middle School.

"Those who would like to watch are welcome to attend. For those who would like to watch recordings of the interviews later at their convenience, the videotaped sessions will be posted on the District’s website on or before October 18," according to the letter.
Incumbents Kathie Schwartz and Margaret Bennett, as well as newcomers Michael Ben-David, John Butto, Shirley Hermansen O’Reilly, Julie Kim, Dr. Evros Vassiliou, and Jacqueline Veliky are running for three full-term seats in the Nov. 6 vote.
The letter, sent to Franklin Lakes parents, was signed by FAMS PTA President Felice Yeshion, Colonial Road School PTA President Christina Tillsley, High Mountain Road PTA President Sarah Katopodis, and Woodside Avenue School PTA President Rebecca Rund.
