The Franklin Lakes Borough Council will likely issue a bond for a series of environmental and infrastructure improvements after losing a source of anticipated funding for the projects this year.
The borough had expected $150,000-200,000 to come from a private source to pay for a municipal sewer line, the permanent trails project and replacements to failing culverts, administrator Greg Hart told the council last week, but the funding fell through this year.
The sewer project will connect municipal buildings to the Northwest Bergen Utilities Authority sewer line expected to be completed this month, and the culverts, drains placed beneath roads for storm water management, are “collapsing,” Hart said.

A bond ordinance for the cost of the improvements will be introduced at the council’s July 16 meeting.
