Franklin Lakes Man Charged With Hit-And-Run Death Of Garfield Man
Paul Frischer, 59, was charged related to the death of Giovanni Rivera, 42, who was killed after an SUV hit him Monday night.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — A borough man was charged Wednesday in the hit-and-run death of a man who lived in a special needs home in Garfield, authorities announced.
Paul Frischer, 59, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and endangering an injured victim, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.
Giovanni Rivera, 42, was struck Monday night in front of the group home for the disabled he lived at on MacArthur Avenue, ABC7 reported.

Rivera died in his sleep early Wednesday morning, his brother Tom said. (See related: Bergen Man In Hit-And-Run Crash Dies: Brother)
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Garfield Police Department investigated the hit-and-run and determined that Frischer's 1999 Chevy Suburban was the vehicle involved, Calo said.

Authorities released video footage of the vehicle earlier this week in an attempt to identify the owner.
Frischer was also charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and failure to report a motor vehicle crash. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court Thursday morning.
