Franklin Lakes Therapist Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting 8 Kids

Troy R. Leonard, 31, admitted to abusing the kids when they were his patients.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — A borough man and therapist admitted Tuesday to sexually assaulting eight patients younger than 13 when they were his patients, Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced.

Leonard, 31, plead guilty to eight counts of second-degree sexual assault, Koch said. Complaints filed against Leonard allege that on various dates from 2011 to 2015, he engaged in sexual contact with patients at various locations throughout New Jersey, the prosecutor said.

Leonard also plead guilty to health care claims fraud. He admitted billing insurance companies for treatment he didn’t provide, authorities said.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 15.

The Sussex, Bergen, and Passaic County prosecutor’s offices, the FBI, and the New Jersey State Police Department investigated the matter.
