Garrett Opponent Has Raised $1.2 Million So Far, Report Says
Josh Gottheimer is running to unseat Scott Garrett in New Jersey's 5th Congressional District.

WYCKOFF, NJ - Democratic challenger Josh Gottheimer has already more than $1.2 million on hand for his campaign to use in trying to defeat incumbent Scott Garrett.
Gottheimer, a former Microsoft executive and speechwriter for President Bill Clinton, is receiving national support from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for his campaign in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District, one of 19 battleground districts the DCCC has identified.
While Garrett had more than $2.3 million in cash on hand at the end of last year, Bergendispatch.com reported that he may have trouble raising addtional election capital.

Following anti-gay comments made last year, corporate donors, including Goldman Sachs and Capital One, previously announced they would be discontinuing their financial support of Garrett, according to the report.
Gottheimer is a fiscally conservative, socially progressive Democrat from Wyckoff. He wants to create more jobs and invest in infrastructure and STEM education in the district.
