Summer can be a lot of fun for most folks, but this year more than ever a lot of people are struggling financially. Soaring gas and food prices are making it harder for those already living paycheck to paycheck and creating new challenges for others who were just squeaking by.
Thanks to organizations like Oasis, a Haven for Women and Children, those in need have an option available for essentials like food and clothing. But Oasis is more than that. Starting in 1997 in a church hall in Paterson, the now three-story building on Mill Street also focuses on education and training for women entering the workforce, and programs designed to help young children and teens excel in school and higher education, making them life and career ready.

Last month, the Home Navigators Team sponsored a food drive in collaboration with Oasis at the Wyckoff Firehouse Club 176. “We wanted to contribute to our neighbors in need throughout Bergen County and also make it fun for the community,” the team said. Attendees donated canned and nonperishable food and pantry items while enjoying delicious ice cream treats courtesy of our friends at Clear Skies Title Agency and epic tunes from DJ and entertainer Michael Roselli, who volunteered his time for the event.
At the end of the day, the Home Navigators proudly dropped off a trailer full of food and other supplies to Oasis to directly aid those so desperately in need. This was our first time holding this event, but it will become an annual tradition for sure. Special thanks to everyone who came and donated and to the amazing team: Rhonda, Mat, Michelle, and Maryanne.
