The Longview Assisted Living Residence at CHCC Recognized for Sixth Consecutive Year with Excellent Advanced Standing
The Longview Assisted Living Residence at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff has received the distinction of Advanced Standing status for the sixth year in a row. Advanced Standing status is governed and granted by a collaboration of the Health Care Association of New Jersey and the New Jersey Department of Health. The program, which is open to all licensed assisted-living residences and comprehensive personal-care homes in New Jersey, is intended to survey assisted-living facilities beyond whether it meets minimum state-licensure standards.
“The ultimate and true beneficiaries of achieving six years of continued Advanced Standing status at Longview are our residents who are blessed by a dedicated team committed to their health, healing, and wellness,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC President and CEO of CHCC. “We remain dedicated to our 106-year heritage of providing excellent Person- and Family-centered Care. We are humbled by this independent and noteworthy affirmation of our efforts.”
By participating in the voluntary Advanced Standing Compliance Evaluation, CHCC continues to exhibit its dedication to exceptional care. The Advanced Standing process begins with much of the compliance information and documentation being sent in first, and then a follow-up visit is conducted by a surveyor. Upon exit, Longview was identified as in compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations that pertain to licensed assisted-living facilities in New Jersey, and it was stated that no corrections were needed. Furthermore, this recognition proves commitment to quality by participating in the National Center for Assisted Living’s Quality Performance Measures for certain prescribed quality indicators as chosen by an appointed peer-review panel.

“We are often told how much our residents and their families are blessed to have such a strong group of compassionate and caring individuals, all of whom play a key role in each resident’s wonderful quality of life here at The Longview Assisted Living Residence,” said Pamela Rooney, CALA, CTRS, ADC, Longview Administrator. “Our team not only assures our compliance with DOH assisted-living regulations, as well as Best Practice and Quality Measures, that go above and beyond as required by the Advanced Standing’s criteria, but also in the provision of individualized care that promotes health, healing, and wellness for the residents for whom we have the privilege of providing care and services.”
The surveyors focus was widespread and detailed, and included reviews of health- care needs assessed and provided, medications and treatments administered as ordered, meal service and diet request provided, activity programs provided with specific programming for residents with cognitive issues, housekeeping services and kitchen sanitation, employees trained and licensed/certified as required, medical record review for required care and services, and the physical plant. During the inspection, positive remarks from the compliance evaluator included compliments on the cleanliness of the kitchen, as well as overall cleanliness and maintenance of the program. Positive remarks were made regarding the “warm interactions that were observed between staff and residents,” how the “food looked good, and all residents looked healthy and well put together,” and that residents were “being well assisted” and that the “education provided to staff was impressive.”
