Man Charged With DWI After Serious Wyckoff Car Crash: Police

The man was speeding when he drove over a median and crashed into a vehicle on Route 208 South, police said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A man was charged with DWI after he caused a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 208 recently, police said.

One the vehicles involved in the crash tried to exit Route 208 at the Cedar Hill Avenue exit March 28, but it was going too fast, Lt. Joseph Soto said.

The vehicle crossed over a grass median and hit another vehicle that was on the highway entrance ramp.

The driver of the first vehicle, Jeffrey C. Villarreal, 55, of Hawthorne, was given field sobriety tests and subsequently charged with assault by auto, Soto said.

Villarreal was also issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and failure to keep right, Soto said.
