Man Charged In Garfield Man's Paterson Murder: Prosecutor
Ferreie Johnson, 22, of Paterson was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Parker Sams of Garfield.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Paterson man was charged with first-degree murder in the death of a a Garfield man who was found shot outside a nightclub, authorities announced.
Ferreie Johnson, 22, was arrested Tuesday on the murder and two weapons possession charges, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
Parker Sams, 22, was found shot outside the D'Classico nightclub at 58 Ellison St. shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, authorities previously announced. He was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson where he died from his injury.

Authorities investigated and learned that Johnson was involved in an altercation inside the nightclub, Valdes said. He exchanged gunfire with another group of people standing on the opposite end of the club's parking lot, she said.
Sams was shot and killed in the crossfire as patrons were trying to return to their vehicles, Valdes said.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court Wednesday afternoon. State authorities are filing a motion for Johnson's detention, which a Superior Court judge will hear at a later date.
The investigation is continuing. Authorities are looking to identify additional suspects.
