Man Charged With Sex Assault Of Woman In Bergen County: Prosecutors

A South Jersey man was arrested on three counts of sexual assault in South Hackensack, the Bergen county Prosecutor's Office said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old Salem County man was arrested Thursday and charged with sexually assaulting a woman in South Hackensack, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

Austin Walker of Pennsville was charged on Thursday, Oct. 5 with three counts of second-degree sexual assault, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, their office was contacted by a woman who alleged that she was sexually assaulted in South Hackensack. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the South Hackensack Police Department determined that Walker assaulted the victim on one occasion, prosecutors said.

On Thursday, Walker was arrested in his hometown and taken to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
