Man Found With Machete, Cocaine, In Franklin Lakes: Police

The Paterson resident was charged following a motor vehicle stop Saturday, police said.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — A man with a fake driver's license had cocaine on him, along with a machete and a folding knife with police stopped him, police said Monday.

Police stopped Edwin Marroquin-Lopez, 31, of Paterson, Saturday at 12:34 p.m. on Ewing Avenue, said Capt. John Bakelaar.

Police found him in possession of a machete, folding knife, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a fake driver's license, Bakelaar said.

Marroquin-Lopez was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon, possession of a fraudulent driver's license, and hindering apprehension, police said. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $100,000 bail.

According to The Daily Voice, Marroquin-Lopez is an illegal immigrant. Immigration and Naturalization Services issued a detainer on Marrquin-Lopez, which will keep him in jail even if he posts bail, the report stated.
