Man Sentenced To 9 Years For Robbing Bergen, 3 Other Banks

Israel Cosme, 36, admitted that he robbed a Little Ferry and told a teller that he would shoot her if she didn't give him money.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man was sentenced to more than nine years in prison for robbing four banks in January 2017, including one in Bergen County, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Israel Cosme, 36, was sentenced to 115 months for robbing a Little Ferry TD Bank Jan. 15, 2017. He admitted demanding money from a teller and telling her that he would shoot her if she did not comply, Carpenito said.

Cosme also admitted in court robbing three other TD Bank branches in New York and Maryland. During all of these robberies, Cosme handed tellers notes demanding money and stating he had a gun.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Esther Salas sentenced Cosme to three years of supervised release.
